WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

Exploring construction terms and reviewing shapes was a fun week. We painted with plastic caps and cooperatively made shapes on the floor with our bodies. There were stories about shapes and songs too. Learning to invite others to play was the social/emotional study this week.

Tools and machines is the topic this week. We will discuss tools in all sorts of areas. Kitchen tools, yard tools, and large machinery will all be considered. It will be interesting to see which tools we like best. There will be opportunities to use different tools and explore measuring. Joining in with Play is a skill that we will work on this week.

Spring Conferences

As you may have noticed the Stevens Point School District is having spring conferences in February. I have chosen to wait until early March when I will have most of the third trimester screening done. I will be setting a schedule for the two weeks before Spring Break.

Valentine’s Day Party

On February 14 we will be doing a Valentine’s Day party during class. It will be from snack time on. (10-110:30 and 1:55-3:15) I am looking for a couple of parents that would be able to come in and help with the parties. Also, the children are asked to bring a Valentine for each of their classmates. These can be store-bought or hand made. Your choice. If your child will need help making their Valentine’s please let me know and I can help them at school.

That day we will play some games and the children will help to pass out their Valentine’s. 

Boston School Forest

On April 16 4K will be going to the Boston School Forest. Students will go during their class period. We will leave as soon as we start class and return just before class time ends. If you are interested in volunteering we would love to have you. You would have to fill out a volunteer form for Canaland ahead of time. Please let me know if you want to attend.

January Activity Calendar

Keep working on those January calendars. There are some good ideas. Please turn them in by February 6. Thank you for all that you do.
