WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

Working with tools and learning about all kinds of tools is a lot of fun. Your child learned about machines, and measuring, and all sorts of tools this last week. Handwriting skills included the letter A, practicing their own name and drawing triangles and rhombus’s. We also explored how to join in with others play and reviewed some of the problem solving solutions.

This week will be a fun celebration of Ghana and then Valentine’s Day. Tuesday there will be a presentation about Ghana and an activity in our room. Wednesday will be our class parties. “I Can Build” is the theme for the week. We will explore building with blocks, building friendships, and building sentences. Our writing focus will be the letter M and the number 8. Working on saying the problem with be the emphasis in our social/emotional time.

Winter Clothing

Just a reminder that children still need to have coat, hat and mittens if the feels like temperature is less than 50. Also, when it snows again they will need their boots and snow pants. Thank you for making sure that they have what they need.

Spring Conferences

As you may have noticed the Stevens Point School District is having spring conferences in February. I have chosen to wait until early March when I will have most of the third trimester screening done. I will be setting a schedule for the two weeks before Spring Break.

Valentine’s Day Party

On February 14 we will be doing a Valentine’s Day party during class. It will be from snack time on. (10-110:30 and 1:55-3:15) I am looking for a couple of parents that would be able to come in and help with the parties. Also, the children are asked to bring a Valentine for each of their classmates. These can be store bought or hand made. Your choice. If your child will need help making their Valentine’s please let me know and I can help them at school.

That day we will play some games and the children will help to pass out their Valentine’s. 

Boston School Forest

On April 16 4K will be going to the Boston School Forest. Students will go during their class period. We will leave as soon as we start class and return just before class time ends. If you are interested in volunteering we would love to have you. You would have to fill out a volunteer form for Canaland ahead of time. Please let me know if you want to attend.
