We love babies at Canaland!
We know how hard it can be to leave your baby in someone else’s arms—and we don’t take that lightly. At Canaland, our infant classroom is designed to feel like an extension of home: nurturing, peaceful, and full of love.
Every baby is treated as an individual with their own unique needs, rhythms, and personality. From the moment they arrive, we partner closely with you to mirror your baby’s schedule at home, whether that’s when they eat, nap, or play, so the transition into daycare feels seamless and comforting.
Each baby gets one-on-one time with their caregiver throughout the day—snuggles, eye contact, soft singing, reading books, tummy time, and gentle play all help your little one feel seen, safe, and secure. When the weather is nice, we take them outside for walks or to explore our dedicated infant/toddler playground. We also have a dedicated nap room that’s kept quiet and dark, with sound machines to help babies rest well and stay on their individual schedules.
Our classroom is licensed for children ages 6 weeks to one year, with a low 1:4 staff-to-child ratio, so your baby always has the attention they need. And if extra hands are ever needed, help is just a button push away! You can trust that they’ll be in good hands and will be deeply cared for in the Infant Classroom.
Infant parents provide the following for their baby:
Diapers
Wipes
Diaper Cream
Bottles
Extra supply of clothes that fit the baby (note: this might need to be checked often as the baby grows)
Refrigerated or frozen pumped breast milk
Formula (if you prefer one other than Canaland provides)
Baby food (if you prefer one other than Canaland provides)
Pacifier
Special blanket, or comfort toy, if you'd like (not used at nap time until they are over the age of one)
We always keep a little extra of these items on hand in case your child runs out, but we will let parents know when items are running low so they can bring them in ahead of time.
Items Canaland provides for the babies:
Formula
Baby Food & feeding items (bibs, utensils, etc.)

Our nursery is set up with Procare’s Parent Engagement, an app where you will receive updates, reminders, and pictures of your little one throughout your child’s day!
We have gone paperless and have replaced daily paper slips with the parent engagement app.
Canaland is a certified breastfeeding friendly childcare center!
The Canaland Nursery staff encourages moms whose children are enrolled at Canaland to come to the nursery throughout the day, at any time of day, to breastfeed their child. We have a private breastfeeding area in our nursery, with privacy curtains and a comfortable chair.
Canaland works in collaboration with the Portage County Breastfeeding Coalition. Anytime you need advice or direction, we can refer you to people who can help. Regular trainings and classes will be posted for our information. We also provide resources available to parents and expecting parents that will help to educate and encourage breastfeeding whenever possible.
Whatever your decision is, Canaland’s Nursery department supports you. We know that breastfeeding is not an option for all, but when it is, we want to do our best to accommodate you.
