WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

Before Christmas we explored problem solving and how to do that with our friends. In story time we talked about the problems in the stories and what were possible solutions as well as taking a look at which solution was used. Of course, on Thursday we celebrated together and enjoyed a holiday party. It was a busy and fun week.

This first week in January we start a new four-week theme of “Stories and Rhymes”. The current week’s theme is “Nursery Rhymes”. We will look at some very familiar rhymes like “Jack and Jill” and “Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater”, as well as some less familiar ones. Our handwriting skills will focus on reviewing our names, drawing circles, and writing Q. The social skills will focus on reviewing classroom expectations as well as handling anger appropriately. There also will be review of letter recognition and sounds for the letters Aa – Ff. It will be a good week to get back in the swing of things. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask.

Back to School

January 2 is our first day back. Our calendar lines up with the public-school calendar.

Winter Apparel

Most days students will need their coat, hat, gloves, snow pants and boots. Please be sure that they have what they need with them. I don’t know if you noticed, but many of them are getting very quick at getting all of their snow things on.

Please remember to send back December Activity calendars by January 8.
