WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

The morning class had three parents come into talk about the jobs this week. We were excited to have Chuck Kania: selling trading cards; Amber Gonzalez: leading worship; Sarah Kosmalski: dietitian. It was great fun and exciting for the kids to see what jobs are out there. I believe there are a few more parents out there that would like to share. Let me know what works for you. We would love to have you come in and share with us.

Last week we start talking about big and small and just comparing objects or people to help understand that it is rather relative. In literacy we introduced the idea of syllables and trying to clap and count syllables. We found that our first names seem to have only one or two syllables. However, dinosaur names usually have three to five. Our social/emotional lessons focused on recognizing anger in ourselves and others. There was also some discussion on how to handle it appropriately.

This week the focus will be on Nature’s Giants: land formations, animals, and bodies of water. Math and science will concentrate on learning to use a balance and how the Earth rotates. Some of our stories focus on hunts and watching for animals. We are looking forward to a lot of fun.

November 7 is picture day! Please dress your child appropriately. We will do a group class photo. You also can have your child’s photo taken. This is a nice time to get a picture of your children together and separately.

I am sending home the permission form for this. Please fill it out and send it back.

Picture Book

Thank you for sending family photos! The children really enjoy looking at them throughout the day.

Turkey Feather

The turkey is looking great! Thank you so much for taking the time to work with your child on the project. They love seeing their feather on the bulletin board.

Coats, Hats and Mittens

Thank you for sending the proper cold weather apparel. When it snows or if there is snow on the ground, even a little, the children do need to bring snow pants and snow boots as well as the winter coat, hats and mittens.
