WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

This week we begin our study of the food groups. There will be some food games, My Plate art project, and books to help us learn about the five food groups. SMART time will focus on doing the moves we already know better. Writing our names correctly will be a focus of our handwriting time, as well as, making letters with Roll-a-dough and on a slate board. During Second Step we will look at “Asking for what you need and want”. This lesson will teach how to ask as well as the reason that we ask. We will continue to have some great songs for learning and for fun.

PETE THE CAT, GILBERT THE SHARK, AND BISCUIT

Pete the Cat got to make an art project of leaves with Gwen. Later they picked pumpkins and carved them. He fit just right in the doll bed and slept there. Saturday they went to the park to play and then to a corn maze. Making apple sauce and apple crispy with Mom topped of the day on Sunday. Pete and Gwen had a great weekend.

Gilbert the Shark spent the weekend with Natalie. She introduced him to all of her stuffed animals. Then there was a movie and M&M’s. On Friday there was a trip to the grocery store, playing and movies. Cousin Jaxon’s first birthday party was on Saturday, as well as a trip to Walmart. Sunday was watching TV and playing games.

Biscuit got to go to Indiana with Sarah for the weekend. They went to pick up a van for the family. While there they were able to play with all four of Sarah’s uncles! Playing with Sarah’s puppy and keeping clean was fun. Also Grandpa took them for a ride on the big tractor. They had lots of fun.

Harvest Party

On October 31 we will have a Harvest Party. This year we will celebrate with the rest of Canaland from 9-10. Your children are free to wear a costume as long as it is not “scary” (Please no ghosts, witches, ghouls, etc.)

Handwriting Without Tears Event

Have you heard your child talk about Mat Man or sing “Where Do You Start Your Letters?”, and wondered what they were? There is an opportunity for you and your family to come and check out Handwriting without Tears. It is the program that we use to teach writing skills in 4K. You will be able to try out Mat Man, Capital Letter Cards, Stamp ‘n See, Roll a Dough and other parts of the program. There will be lots of hands on activities. We hope to equip you better to help your child learn to write all their letters.

Call

Please call if your child is not going to be at school. I do take attendance and turn that into the district.  If you do have a question you can call (715)341-8747, or e-mail me at mkessel@pointschools.net.

Jackets/Hats/Mittens

We will go out. So please send a jacket, sweater, or sweat shirt for outside play. When the temperature is under 50 degrees children also need a warm hat and mittens. Also, please be sure that extra clothes are seasonally appropriate. Thank you.
